Default 1994 Mustang Engine Swap

I was given a 94' v6 with a blown engine, I have been doing some reading and from what I gathered I should be able to swap in a 96-98 engine without too much trouble, am I correct in this?

I found at a local junkyard a 97 v6 engine with 41k miles for 600 dollars and I want to jump on it at that price but I didn't want to purchase anything until I was clear on the required parts for the swap, if anyone has done this before and could give me a run down on any extra parts I might need or trouble spots to look out for that would be great!

-Thanks

On a 96+ engine you will also need to change out the K-member for it to fit correctly .

you will have to use a 94-95 engine, to be a direct swap.... the K-member is not hard to change..

Is the K member the only thing that really needs to be changed? Any idea how much I would be looking at paying for one of those from a scrapyard?

I have no Idea how much a K-member is out of a salvage yard

On the 2000 engine swap , make sure you get the fly wheel or flex plate if it is an automatic the early 2000 engines are externally balanced the later 2000 are neutrally balanced , as long as the engine comes with the front balancer and the flywheel /flexplate your cool.
Don't get the 2000 wiring harness its harder to do without hacking it up- the pin-outs are different. It's alot easier to use the 96 harness on the 99+ engine. The 2000 also has the returnless fuel system but you could swap the fuel rails and use the FPR that you have . Its not a easy swap and if you don't feel comfortable doing it you should have
qulified mechanic do it. Hope this helps some

Pick up a QA1 unit for $219. It's better than stock, and isn't much more than what you'll pay at a salvage yard.

You can get them from Summitt or Steeda, just run a froogle search using Mustang+K-member to see 'em all.
