Depends on several definitions.
you can mod them to be a lot faster than even the Shelby GT.
you can swap in a 99+ set of heads and intake and be as fast as a 94-98 GT. It will take a little more to go faster than a 99-04 GT.
There are several strategies, depending on your preferences -NA (4.2L crank swap, ported heads & intakes, and a street/Strip cam) Turbo, N2O, or Supercharging.
If you just want more snap, change the gears, throw on a rear swy bar from a GT, and add a limited slip differential.
