Default '95 V6 from 75mph acceleration

hi there...
could anyone tell me, is it normal for a '95 V6 to take its time to get from 75mph to around 100? (full throttle) my mustang runs pretty cool, temp hardly rises from just above cold on the highway. is this normal? i've got a 2.25" dual freeflow and a K&N drop-in.

That could be your EGR running since you removed the cats, have you removed the EGR and reprogrammed teh computer?

regardless, It's hard for me to say, since it's been quite some tie since my 98. I don't recall it taking that long -it was harder from a standing start because of the high gearing. at highway speeds, it was fine . ..

I never did remove the EGR no, it was actually giving an error reading last time i had a tune-up. the mechanic said that it isn't necessary to remove or replace as it would only cause the 'check engine' light on the dash to stay on. by the way, our emission laws here are very diluted compared to u guys...
my question is, if the EGR valve is removed, does it have a better effect on performance?

Right now it's probably opening up full time under acceleration. you're getting a lot of dead air into your cylinder.

so you're saying it would be better to remove it?
my concern is though, isn't the 'check engine' light connected to the egr? or can you close it off from the system completely?

my onboard computer won't allow modification, has a ROM error on it. but there's nothing wrong with it. only the driving memory doesn't adapt to the driver's style, which suits me better.
Chip is too much $$$ right now, and there are no cats to speak of...
What will happen if i remove the egr completely? in theory, will it work?
thanx for the help, appreciate it alot

No, the computer will likely start some other strategy to eliminate the N2O and still try to maintain the air fuel ratio.

you'll likely end up with a burned valve or piston.

Not here, they're not.

66% of all mustangs sold are v6 models. It's more expensive to get a GT computer than a v6 one -just because there are so many sitting around in salvage yards.

I just took my '95 from 70-100 with very little hesitation on the cars' part.. pedal was not fully engaged either.

Ran out of road before I maxed it out

I just covered 180 miles today. engine ran beautifully when it warmed up nicely... doesn't feel like theres much wrong with it. on a straight it gets to 90mph pretty quickly, and without any hesitation... its just hard to compare to other mustangs because there are very few here

Wow!

No photos of S.A. or your pony in your profile.

Never seen your area before, what's it like?

And I thought I had problems finding a "cruise night" up in Vermont!!

I hear the older V6's lack the power of the 05+ 4.0L, so there might be nothing "wrong" with your pony. 150HP vs 210HP of the 05+

You could change your gears to something like 3.73 which would make your acceleration better, but would make your car work a little harder if you do highway driving.

I was coming down a fairly steep hill last week in my 06 with some idiot tailgating me at 60. I floored it and my wife freaked out 4 seconds later as we passed 100... Just absolutely screamed before I backed off!

Sounded nice! Audio/Video clips below (not of that run unfortunately).

On level ground it pulls pretty hard, but it is no V8 by any means!!

Looking forward to some pix of your area.

Seeya
