Default Modification Decision Help

I have a 2002 True Blue Mustang Roush Stage 2, 3.8L V6, K&N CAI, SM01 exhaust, Stage3 Roush suspension/handling kit. I am trying to decide whether to use a supercharger and keep my current engine or perform an engine swap and transmission swap with conversion from automatic to 5-speed. I have a limit of approximately $6,000 to spend on modifications. I can get a 4.6L SOHC V8 for $1,750 but do not know about the transmission. All labor will be free because I will be doing the work myself. I am just trying to get the best out of my Mustang. Please help me out if you could share knowledge. Thanks

If it was mine I would keep the V6 and install either a pro charger or turbo and a shift kit in the trany with some lower gears (3.73 or 4.10) and an LSD. Then you would be beating some GTs and really have some thing to brag about. That's my opinion though.

You're going to need a complete rear end + suspension + Computer & harnesses. And even then you're only going to have either 20 or 60 more hp.

I think it's a no-brainer re: cost effectiveness.

A Terminator engine that cheap may be something to think about because you would end up with 200 more hp.

but all that work for at most 60 hp. I'd buy an SC.

Where would you suggest purchasing the procharger, limited slip, gears, headers and a shift kit? Which ones have the best quality for your dollar? Keeping the transmission and engine, will I need to go from auto to manual for best performance?

The AFM store has some good prices, so does RPM-outlet.com, and GTRhipo.com

For gears -buyfordracing.com and GEFracing.com generally have thhe best prices.

Headers -do a froogle search. You'll want either JBA or BBK headers.

Auto or manual -depends on what you want to do. Hard to beat autos in a drag race consistently.

HArd to beat Manuals consistently on a road course.

If you go manual, go ahead and bite the bullet and step up to a T-56 and forget about gears.

You also need to make sure you get a good T-lok. I am having this issue right now with my FR T-lok which is only rated to about 300HP, the detroit true-trac is what you want it has a lot stronger spider gears.

Actually it's a lot lower than that. Breakaway torque is only around 100 ft/lbs.

What is lower? the amount of HP the FR T-lok can handle? If so that sucks, I was hoping to order my fun stuff pretty soon ans just take it easy until I can upgrade, but if the FR T-lok is rated lower than that I would surely have to replace that first.
