Just because technology advanced and newer cars got a speck of "luxury" (the mustang is far from luxurious by any means) doesnt mean that muscle doesnt thrive in the newer Gt's and special models ( Bullitt, Sallen, Roush, Mach 1). They are known as muscle cars...muscle hinting power. They weren't muscle cars because they didn't steer right and lacked power windows.
That's exactly what I was trying to say....KS, I know exactly what are you are trying to say and that is a valid point that you have. We are just saying that in this day and age our cars are the new generation of musclecars.

What USED to make a musclecar was a freak option from the factory for DRAG ONLY.
Those cars were lighter than pony cars, and since they were midsizers instead of compacts (all the pony cars were compacts) they could stuff a LOT of engine in the compartment.
Without ever seeing one or experiencing one, you wouldn't know the difference.
There's a reason there USED to be a differentiation between pony cars and musclecars, that reason kind of got erased in the 80s.
but you'd better relieve yourself and bring a change of underwear before you drive a true musclecar.

yea i know what yall mean about people talkin **** about v6 ,,but hey a ponys still a pony,,no matter what it still turns heads,,all the other pricey companys and modles besides the mustang might turn heads,,but hardly anything beats a stang,,i dont care what there runnin ,, if youve got ur pony decked with a super chip and wet shot their screwed but my opinion probley doesent matter

The 1971 Cyclone Spoiler was the same size as my Torino. Both had 429s
I would not compare a 1970 428 Mach 1 with a 2007 GT.
2 different eras, 2 different cars.
Things change over time.
The lines become blurry, new cars and new options come out and the old disappear. Features get refined. Polished. The old cars just get older.
Musclecars have evolved, or Musclecars have died.
Maybe we should come up with a new name.
I think Musclecars died in 1971.

I have to agree with SOCHman on the muscle car...i actually saw a new mustang commercial today which even stated the mustang gt as a muscle car. GT's these days don't have the 4-500 hp that cudas and bosses mighta had but i'm pretty sure a new 300hp gt or mach 1 could hold its own with most of the muscle cars of the era in a straight line quarter. Your car doesnt have to weigh 4000 lbs to be consider muscle.
I hope you realize that those cars were rated in gross horespower, not the SAE inflicted HP we have to rate engines in today.
I need to vent. Today coming out of school, I got caught in the mile-long line to turn left. It's 80 degrees out so i have my windows down. Some sophomore skater punk walks by with his friend, spits on the ground, and yells, "v6, way to ruin the mustang!" I smiled, flipped him the bird, and explained that it was 6 more cylinders than he owned.

To the reply that V-6 don't move, please tell my brother in-law, first time he saw the car he thought it was an 8. Did not have the heart to tell him different, though him in the passanger seat and took him for the ride of his life. My 06 poss with the new improved chip( ) made him a believer, Then we opened the hood, my 6 can beat his 84-8 mustang hands down, now don't even get me on my next door firebird nut, he won't even talk to me anymore.....just wait till the supercharger and dual exhust goes on...MO highway patrol...here it comes.
I bought mine for the price,fuel economy low insurance and it just looks awesome!(black,2000 5spd).I want to do some mods when it's within my budget,But on my way there I'm gonna enjoy every mile my pretty little pony gives me!

I told him it had a 6 and he immediately said i should have bought a gt or gotten a 5.0. I told him that my car will have just as much power as a stock 5 liter.
Now this retard started goin off about how HIS car is better than mine, and he could take me in a quarter any day.... yada yada yada. He owns a 98 civic si/ci/ex/xxx or whatever model code it was, along with one of those fart cans on the back.
