Default Our burden as V6 owners, vent your frustration here!

I thought it would be fun and interesting to hear everyones story of people asking us proud V6 owners..."Why didn't you get a V8?" story. I know everyone including myself has been bothered by these questions or at the least asked. I'll start it off with some of mine.

Some of you guys have heard this story so bear with me if you did...
One day at work there was a new guy. We got to become pretty good aquaintences and one day me and another car enthiusiast were talking about our cars and how they perform. The "new" guy was curious what we were talking about and we told him. The next question was, "oh so hows your mustang GT?" and then I told him it was the V6 model and he started laughing right in my face. I didn't get too mad b/c we were on a good enough basis where we could joke with each other without anyone getting mad. He then asked me, "why did you bother to buy a mustang with a V6, thats hardly a mustang." Still to this day he breaks my balls about it and asks me, "so hows your go cart doin." I don't get mad b/c he drives a 1990 ford escort with 200k plus miles on it and it breaks down all the time lol. I don't even feel like I have to say anything. When I pass him on the way home I just beep and wave .

Another story involves my fiances family. They aren't really close to this part of the family, its he uncle and her cousins. They live on the other side of MA so they only show up once and a while. They aren't bad people, a little rough around the edges, and pretty wealthy. One day I went over to help my girls grandma move into the house next door and they came to help. They pulled up in a 2007 escelade lol. So one of the younger kids says, "WOW! You have a new mustang?!" He was very excited to see it by his tone. Proudly I said yea, just got it. Then he said, "Its a GT of course right?" Mind you this is a 11 year old kid lol. I told him no its a V6 and I got a funny look from him and his older brother and no one mentioned the car again until they left. As soon as they were pulling away they made a joke about it being a V6, I can't recall exactly what was said but out of respect for my girl, I smiled and waved goodbye.

I can go on all day with stories like these but these are the ones that really irrtated me and hurt my mustang pride. Feel free to list and V6 disrespect you have gotten, this is a great place to vent.

ENJOY!

When i was in the process of getting my first Mustang back in '04 i almost bought the V6 just because.

I talked myself into the GT because in my opinion the V6 just isnt as sporty.

No disrespect whatsoever.....same car...just a bigger motor.

Back in the day, the same thing was said about the 302.

When you beat them, it makes it that much more enjoyable. The man (or woman) makes the car -not the other way around!

I bought my V6, because I was in dire need of another car, my Camaro crapped out. I didn't want a car payment at the time and my friend's sister was selling hers for MAD CHEAP. I didn't shop around for cars, because I needed one that day or the next, because it was my visitation weekend with my daughter.

Anyhow, it was cheap, I knew the owner, it had all the work done at the original selling dealer with all the paperwork. The only down side was when I lost 1st gear and it cost more to replace the tranny (auto) than it did to buy the car. I know what a lot of you are thinking, why buy a new one, drop in a used one. The cost of buying and installing a used one, was 1/2 to cost of the new. The new also came with a 3yr/75K mile fully transferrable warranty from Ford.

I'm happy with the car, it has never died on me, left me stranded or otherwise put my in a bad situation. I've done a few mods to it and now looking to buy a new car, but I'm keeping this one also.

I chose the V6 for several reasons. One it keeps me out of trouble better due to a some times heavy right foot..lol It's much cheaper on insurance and every one expects a V8 to be quick but when you spank them with a 6 it's even sweeter.

The burden is catching it from both the 2ners AND 'Stangers.

Gotta be tough to run a six.

I really haven't caught to much flak about having a v6, but the couple of times that I have it was from guys in trucks, and they don't realize that there is something called hp to weight ratio. I ran one guy from a dig in a 05 chevy and I just made him look silly out of the hole , he left me alone after that.

Yeah, I got a Hemi pickup 3x in a row before he finally gave up.

When I crank it up and people go there is no way thats a six makes me smile . and then when you go down the trank with a GT spraying 100 shot and they let off at the 1/8 mile because they are getting beat so badly ,well thats priceless .

My reasons for getting the V6....

Most important right now is GAS! GAS! GAS prices !!!!! 20 bucks barely gets me a 1/2 a tank anymore.

My insurance is only 135 a month .. gotta love progressive

Cheaper to mod then the V8 and can save alot of cash to make it just as fast if not faster.

Im only 22 and have no mommy or daddy to support my Car.

I love smashing civic/tiburon (pardon if i mispelled that , dont speak rice) drivers feelings Especially when they can say they got beat becuase you had a V8.

and last but not least is When i was single the girls didnt know the difference between a V6 and a V8, to them a mustang was a mustang and the back seats all seemed the same

When I was your age mine was $250 a month. My 1968 302 cost me 1750 TOTAL.

I'm 19 and I pay 475 a month for my insurance...Imagine a GT lol. I can't even get discount insurance like geico, allstate, or progressive either. I hate the way MA works almost as much as I hate the cops here.

I got my V6 because it was the only one at the time we saw. (also didnt know if we had good enough credit to get one without help) Im 23 and I have my 22 yrd GF on my insurance also and my truck (5.9L V8) and pay $4000 a year. So the V6 is better for me right now.

yea i agree with all of u. beating any car with a v6 puts a bigger on my face than if i beat someone driving a v8. when my dad lets me drive his vette c6, which is stock, and i beat people racing with it i dont get that big of a satisfaction since its a stock car that cost like over 3x the price of mine and even more compared to some other cars on the road. if i put not even a 1/4 of the price of that car in my car i would make it faster. the story of getting my car was pretty interesting. one day my dad and i just went out like usually and had no intentions of even buying a car and we were like lets stop by ford and see what they got. well we stopped and started looking at the used cars. i think my dad just fell in love with something about the stang and asked me if i wanted it. of course no one is gonna reject an offer like that. so my dad made and offer on it and after a lot of going back and forth (the usual dealer bs) we bought the car and the dealer actually had to follow us home (about a 2 hour drive) so they can pick up the check. my dad later made me pay 1/2 the price of the car. when some of my friend see me car they say the same thing like all u guys experience. "why a v6," "you should of got a v8" and so on. the one thing i reply each and every time is i still can beat ur ass in a race anytime. lol which is true.
