opinions on GT badges on v6 after swapping motor to a v8
In another post, I said about getting a v6 sometime soon probably around mid to late summerish. Until then like 99 percent of the other stangers on this forums, I come up with 100's of ideas on how to mod their stang. The stang is a black '01 v6 coupe. Now I have my '05 stang GT, and love the GT badges on the sides, and will be getting a tattoo of the '05 GT badge on my arms. Now back to the '01 stang idea, I will be swapping out the is it a 3.8L v6 out for a v8 ( probably a 4.6, 5.0, 5.4 for now). Now my question is, do i have the "permission" from my fellow stangers on here to put the '05 GT badges on the '01 after I swap the motors? Wasn't sure because the car would originally be a v6. I know it's my choice because it would be my car, but I don't want people saying I'm just like a ricer/poser put emblems/badges on a car that wasn't born what the emblem represents. Stupid question yes but it was bugging me

Believe me man, she should have the power to back it up (its going to be a little bit due to $) but I'm planning on a twin turbo setup after the v8 is dropped in.

Well if you think about it the only difference that I know of with the bodystyle your droppin the V8 in is the motor and the exhaust. Your droppin the motor in and I'm more than positive that your gonna get some ballsy exhaust on there. Next your gonna say the magic words and...VUALA! Instant GT! lol

Well got something good accomplished today. More of the idea for the mods for this v6. I have decided on building up my own engine. It will be a 5.4 dohc iron block/'07 gt500 block. I chose the iron block I've been looking around and heard stories of the alum. blocks being easy to break, so I'm going to go with an iron block for durability. Now my ? is where would the cheapest place be to get one of those blocks? I know salvage yards but where I live in this part of PA there really is no salvage yard around cept for cj's pony parts, and I don't think I would have the luck of finding a wrecked '07 gt500 in there. So anyone know where I could get one cheap, preferably in PA? I'm starting to look at prices of parts and making a list. And for the exterior (first car I'm really working on/building, and it feels so awesome to be able to do it however you want it aslong as you can afford it) I plan on blacking out the whole car, tinted windows, deep dish black bullets with drag radials, a ductail spoiler if I can find one for this car that I like, cowl induction hood maybe, cobra front bumper and side pipes, lwoered down to the ground, have the old musclecar stance with the rearend just a little higher then the front. And of course my GT emblems on the fenders now.

For the block call a ford dealear in the detroit area, they'll prolly work with you on finding one since thats Mustang heaven .. As for cheap im not sure what cheap is on that car after all it is a 07 GT500 and nothing about that car is cheap except its wieght.

I wouldn't throw GT badges on, IMO. I would rather pull the ponies off and fill & paint the hole or replace it with something else, but no GT, Cobra or 5.0 badges.
As far as the exhaust turn downs, be careful, in a lot of states it is illegal and you can fail inspection & get fined. I had turn-down after i went with my duals and it was nice and loud and good for a few weeks, but then, it was annoying as hell. I had them replace the tips with pipes that went over axle and out the back.
I'm either taking the v6 badges off and putting the GT ones there or taking them off and just filling the holes. And now I like that idea of turning the exhaust tips down. Anyone know if it's legal in PA? And now that I think of that, is there a exhaust out there that is quiet for a v8 AND DOES NOT HURT PERFORMANCE (I know she's gonna be atleast somewhat loud and there's no way to quiet down them turbos lol) I love the sound of a loud bada** v8 but I'm thinking that sleeper look/sound is sounding pretty good for this little stang. Thanks guys.

Well if you think about it the only difference that I know of with the bodystyle your droppin the V8 in is the motor and the exhaust...
And the brakes, computer, suspension, sway bars, factory foglights, rear bumper and the stock wheel/tire size, right? Is rear end gearing different, too? And the factory hood? Did the '01 V6s have an 8.8 inch rear or the 7.5 (I'm not sure)? Were the axles in the V6 as strong? I may be mistaken, but I think there are more differences in the factory V6 cars and the GTs than simply two cylinders, one exhaust pipe and a couple of badges. Wasn't that what the LX was back in the '80s and early '90s, and the GTS models later in the '90s - the same body as the V6 without as many 'extras' (which actually made it lighter than the GT) but with a V8 under the hood? KSCoyote knows more about the differences (and a lot more about the 6'ers) than I and he made a pretty good list once of things someone would need to change in order to make a V8 work longterm and have good drivability in a factory V6. It seems like there were quite a few changes needed, if I recall correctly.
For what it's worth, I sometimes think the tri-bar pony looks better on the fenders than the GT badges. I have even considered changing my fender badges over to the tribar pony, but decided I wanted to leave the stock ones on. If you go with a 5.0, then the '5.0' badges would look cool - and would be kind of different on a 'New Edge' bodystyle since the 5.0 didn't come from the factory in them. I also really like the 'V8' badges where the 8 is inside the V. You might even consider a GTS badge (if you go with a 4.6) which would also be unique on a New Edge. I think your project will be cool if it all works out - and (being a little lighter in the body) will probably be potentially faster than a factory GT model with the same engine and mods, but my advice would be not to go with the GT badges on it. In the end, though, you just have to please yourself.

If you run the GT500 block, instead of the better NVH block found in the navi's, you do need to realize they modified the coolant passages in the block. You'll have to run the GT500 waterpump (which is very expensive) and you'll have to modifiy Navi heads if that's what you plan to run, or you'll need to run the R/GT heads.
