Default Ridiculous license plate bulbs

How the hell does ford expect you to get them out?

They don't unscrew from the outside (no matter what). There is a 2 1/2 diameter hole that they expect you to stick your hand in??

I'm PO'ed.

Explain how to change these.

The wiring from the tail light are jointed with the license plate bulbs I believe.
I don't see how taking the tail light out would help, though.

Lift the trunk up and there are 2 little plastic screws. I couldn't get them to unscrew either, so I used a flat head screwdriver to pop them out. After the plastic screws are out, you can pull the bulb assembly out.

BE CAREFUL THOUGH..........I wasn't paying attention and stabbed my finger with the screwdriver.

Too funny Thomas... I did the same thing to myself before I got the hang of it!! This little tidbit is very good advice, even if you miss your hand the paint is right thare to remind you to be careful.

yeah, it really sucked. I had blood running all over the bumper and in the garage. I was so pissed I kicked my tire after cleaing it up. I wanted to kick the damn trunk, but didn't want a big dent in it.

I tried that and the whole housing started to crack. Maybe I can just use some pliers and pull the fckers out

The plastic is dry-rotted then. Maybe take it to a Jiffy Lube and pay them a few $$4 to replace them, then when they break it complain and maybe they'll get you new ones.

Or, wait to replace them after you get the new assemblies from Ford or maybe a salvage yard.

Just to make sure, don't pry on the housing, wedge the screwdriver under the plastic screw head, then pry it out.

I never successfully work on my car WITHOUT stabbing, scraping or cutting myself on something...All about the blood, sweat and tears!

Well, thanks for jinxing me, Thomas

I managed to get the screws out with a pair of pliers. The bulbs weren't easy to get out & as I'm attempting to pull the second one out, it crumbles in the grip of my thump and forefinger

A nice 1/4 inch gash that would not stop draining blood all over the place.

Now, I'll go cut myself again trying to get the broken bulb out.
