I bought the Auburn pro series this afternoon. I figured it was the best to go with just because of everything I've heard from people around Fort Worth between the two.
as you can see, they cost about the same so is there really any difference between the two? Open to other suggestions, looking for the best choice.
It WAS the only game in town, until Auburn and Detroit Locker started noticing ford selling a ton of 7.5" traction-loks.
Then they reissued their versions, like, last year. They quit selling them when the GTs switched from the 7.5 to the 8.8

Auburn is best for street & road racing, the Locker is best for drag racing -generally. But the locker was standard on the SVO, back in the day.

well I guess what I am getting at is which one is the most durable?
While one may be better than the other in different catagories it doesn't sound like there is a huge difference in performance between the two, so to me it would be a question of which can take the greater load?

Depends on your axles more than the unit.
You mean breakaway torque? Then it's the Auburn . .. last time I checked.

I would definatly go with the Detroit Tru-Trac. I have one in my 90 5.0 and its way better than the 3 T-loks I went through, no clutches to smoke, and it fully locks once you apply torque to it. But it doesn't chirp around corners like a full locker.
If you mean by load, as like how much power it can handle? I'm running consistant mid-low 12's with my fox-body and I street drive it all the time. I know thats not extremely fast, but I also have a friend with a 400+ HP LS1 Camaro on n2o, and he street drives his all the time also.

Well there is a little diference there between a 5.0 rear end and a v6 but I did notice like you said that it had no clutch. I will do some reading, but it sounds like either one would be a good T-lok. Thanks for the help.
BTW, mid to low 12's is pretty fast in my book.

The Detroit Tru-Trac and a T/A girdle are a very strong combination .

one more thing, why is it not recommended to use synthetic oil in either the auburn pro series or the detriot trutrac? I was planning on using royal purple synthetic gear oil, but why shouldn't i? I don't understand why it isn't recommended to do so. I made up my mind and am getting the detroit trutrac, and am going to switch all my lubricants to royal purple except for the gear oil as long as there is a valid reason not to. Has anyone used the rp synthetic oil in their lsd? very curious about it.
ok, last thing, if i stick with my same gears, i don't need a tuner to adjust anything for the lsd right? stupid question, but i am trying to budget my upcoming mods so i need to know, either tuner or bullitt handling pack, i want to do suspension right now and in a couple months go back to hp and torque, so the tuner is down the road, i just want to make sure i don't need it now
