Default How do I get pitch off my paint without ruining it?

I have a 1995 v6, which I just bought 2 weeks ago. It has almost perfect paint...except for a couple of chips that were touched up, it looks like brand new paint...and it's original. My problem is it now has pitch on it from a hemlock tree and I don't know how to safely remove it without ruining my paint. I tried some quick detailer while the pitch was wet, but it pretty much smeared it around...making my problem worse. I did wax it last weekend. Any suggestions or miracle products?

sticky tree sap from evergreen trees that is virtually impossible to get off anything and eventually turns hard as a rock is commonly refered to as pitch.

try wd-40. you will need to reapply wax afterwards. any doubts find an out of sight area with pitch on it and give it a try.

I think the tar and bug remover works well too.

I had some nasty, sticky tar on my door and I used a small bottle of orange extract (something along those lines). It's in a small bottle, orange liquid, and smells good

Worked like a charm.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I tried some quick detailer and a soft rag while the stuff was wet...didn't work too well...but it did make a fairly thin layer. Today when I used a clay bar on it and a lot of elbow grease, it came right off.

try using low grade paint thinner (especially anything with the word acetone in it), some tree sap will come off with a vinegar and rubbing alcohol mix, but you have to use a very high thread count microfiber (5000 count per square inch or more) but get it off quick or it will never come off

I think I heard gasoline will get a pitch off.. not 100% on that, could be a myth... What about freezing it? Dust off can upside down? Just an Idea. hehe
