Default What is this hole in my CAI?

I recently purchased a BBK CAI and have been attempting to install it, but there is a hole in the middle of the upper tube. The instructions say something about an air temperature sensor, but my car doesn't have one. Also, there is a rubber connecting hose that connects right next to the throttle body, but the tube doesn't fit in the CAI. Any ideas?

sounds like that is where the MAF sensor should go, but i don't know too much like any car other than the S197

you need to plug that hole. your intake should have came with a plug b/c like u said not all mustangs need it. as for the other hole that connects to your valve cover through a hose, just take the hose and adapter thing from ur stock intake and put it in the new one. it should fit.

Not sure about the 02's but on my '95 we have an IAT (intake air temp sensor) The IAT we have to pull from the stock rubber/plastic induction along with the rubber grommet, and re-install into the chrome/metal tube... did you have to disconnect any wires to get your induction out?

a picture of the hose you disconnected and the hole where SOMETHING should be attached would be awesome, if possible.

I'm new to mustangs, but that's almost certainly your IAT sensor, as someone mentioned above. It can be above or below your mass air flow sensor (big one with an arrow indicating air flow direction).

I'm not sure whether mustangs need the IAT to run well or not, but you should still have the cord hanging loose somewhere from the stock intake. It's probably a good idea to try and fit it in there before you plug up the hole and just do without, most sensors have some reason for existing. It needs to be a tight fit to keep the vacuum goodness going.

That is for a IAT sensor. In 2002, Ford integrated the IAT into the MAF. You now have a 6 pin MAF sensor, with the outside 2 gray wires are your IAT wires.

see that's the problem; my intake didn't come with the aforementioned plug (d*** RPM outlet!)
