Basically, it is reprogramming the computer to work properly(telling it how the new stuff should work) with the new equipment installed..

Correct.. elaborate?

couldn't of said it any better myself. it's like teaching an old dog new tricks, only the old dog (computer) actually listens haha.

Tuning makes everything work and run properly, for example, if you have a CAI and an Exhaust chances are you're going to be running to lean of an Air-Fuel Mixture, and tuning it solves that problem!

There are typically 2 different types of tunes you can get;

1. Use a handheld programmer and upload the tunes from the manufacturer. Most have several available options such as; CAI, 87/89/93 Octane, gear ratio, etc....
2. Go to a dyno shop and have then "dyno" tune the car. You'll still need the handheld programmer, but they will fine tune everything for you.
