Anyone have a carbon fiber hood on their mustang? i'm thinking about getting a carbon fiber hood and side mirrors. My particular car is laser red and I think a black hood would look nice with the metallic red color. I'm just looking for some pics of how it might look before I get one. i'm trying to visualize it in my head with black rims with a polished lip.

If you want my 2 cents I say stay away from carbon fiber. Thats typically a ricer fad and they put it anywhere they can lol. Plus to be honest I think it is heavier than regular fiberglass hoods and will make you slower. Im sure someone will second me if I'm right or correct me if I'm wrong. I would buy a nice shaker hood or something like that. Carbon fiber and red don't quite match anyways. Good luck searching for yur new hood.

typically, carbon fiber wieghs 20-30% less than fiberglass and 40-50% less than the regular steel. there's a reason why supercars use carbon fiber bodies and accessories. And there's no "ricer this, ricer that" for me. Besides, there are so many mustangs that look alike because people are unwilling to step out of the "norm." Everyone knows saleen, steeda, cobra, etc. and typically, those are the companies that the mustang community goes to first. What people don't realize is that there are a plethora of aftermarket goodies that are proven and reputable that the mustang community doesn't know about because there are so afraid of falling into this "ricer" catagory. Not attacking anyone or getting defensive but I think people here need to know that there are a lot of other options available and that this "mustang mold" that the mustang community has created should be and needs to be broken.
Sorry about the ranting and raving but I feel that it happens too much and that it shouldn't. Import forums never rag about "it's too domestic this and domestic that" yet our "domestic" forum are always bashing imports. i just don't get why there's this *hatred* towards imports and this whole "it's so ricerish" thing. Is it a pride issue that many 4 cylinder cars are often faster than V6's or V8's ? Personally, I give props to those that have less but can produce more. It says so much about the engineering and potential that these machines have and so little that those with larger engines always complain about it and put it down. Are people seriously not impressed that a turbocharged 4 cylinder vehicle can put out 500HP to the wheels with minor mods? Or 800-900HP+ street legal 6 cylinder imports? hell, I'm thouroughly impressed.
Anyway, anyone have pics?

There is a BIG BIG BIG difference between import drivers and "ricers." The import drivers absolutely can't stand ricers at all. An import driver mods there car much like us domestic guys. We do a little big of HP work (tunes, exhaust, etc) and we do TASTEFUL things to cars that are worthy of them. Ricers are typicaly teenage kids that LIE and LIE about their cars and are only about gotti tasteless modifacations that try to bring attention to themselves. all show and no go if you will.
A ricer will tell you he has a 1990 honda civic that runes 12s and eats up Mustang GTs all day at the track. You ask him what his mods are and he has neon underglow, spinners, rusty paint, and a fake bottle of nos on his dashboard taped on with duct tape.
I apologize if I came off as offensive to you man didn't mean to sound like I was shooting down your ideas. I was just giving my two cents and you can chuck em out the window if you don't like em because its only my opinion
Just keep in mind that there is a difference between a ricer and an import driver.

GT-EATER had one on his race car. I know he was looking to sell it, but I can't remember if he told me he already sold it or not. I almost went with the CF hood when I was replacing my hood and nose last Fall.

it's all good. It seems to me that people generally assume that *ricer* and import drivers are one-in-the-same. I'm glad to know that you know the difference.

Carbon fiber is lighter but not cheaper.
That's why i want one! My car feels really heavy with all that audio equipment in the back. And don't even say take it out cuz I won't!
Anything to lose weight but still be usable. Maybe I'll look into Alpine's slim subs....

Ya I would say CF would be pretty cool with red. I do like the idea of black rims and polished lip what size are you going? 17s? 18s?

I agree black rims on a red car are sick. You should check out the ones that are black bullit rims with the chrome spinner in the middle. (spinner like the s197 v6 premium)
I think they are at americanmuscle.com
I see them all the time in this mustang magazine I subscribe to. I would get em but I'm broke and I need to keep modding the engine.
