My friend who is a mechanic told me yesterday I should be careful about CAI because if water gets sucked up in it that it would flood my engine. Is this a valid concern I should have and how easy would this happen? Driving in a rainstorm or actually driving in through a big dip with water in it?

You'd have to drive into some seriously deep water to make that happen. No, a hard rain won't get into the air inlet unless it's directly on the filter itself. Even then, the filter will have to get soaked since the oiling it has gives it water repellancy. If you have a ram air scoop underneath the front bumper, then that's a different story. But with a standard CAI, you'll be fine.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

To be perfectly honest with you I don't know yet. I have heard alot about these chips but I don't know how they work or what they do. I have a lot of research to do.

It's almost impossible in a Mustang, unless you get a under-bumper ram air.
The CAIs on the 2ners suck air from below the engine, not the fenderwell. It happened to my Focus, and Ford was kind enough to give me a free engine!
(BTW - found out why the 3.8L OEM unit performs better with the silencer in -it's not only the insulation from the engine compartment - the front of the fender is a high pressure area, and the pressure differential forces air into the engine .. )

Well most CAIs require a custom tune or else your going to be running lean therefor losing or not gaining any HP from the CAI. Certain ones do not require a tune though but you get the most HP out of a custom tuned CAI combo.
Its not a chip that you use its a portable device that you hook up to your car's computer and change the computer. They go for about 400$ but you can get a better deal on ebay. Custom tunes from Bamachips cost about 65$-75$. This combo really wakes up a car.
If anyone has anything to add to this that I may have missed please feel free.

No, not on the pre-05s. (And you actually gain hp from running lean -it's just not good for durability -you lose hp running rich)
The computer adapts. You just have to disconnect the positive terminal of the battery for a few minutes, and the computer will do all the rest.
The only advantage of a tuner for the SN-95/Fox4 is for advancing the spark. But then you have to run 92 octane.

Thanks for clarifying. So I buy a tuner for around 3-400 then I take that device to a shop to get it tuned for $65-75? Which chip is recommended?

you can pick up an additional 5-7hp with a tuner, but that comes from a higher octane tune, nothing else.
At $400 + increased fuel costs, that's pretty low bang for buck.
I wouldn't recommend a tuner unless you swap cams or run a power adder.

Ya I probably won't be swapping cams and heads until the beginning of next year. So you recommend I should wait til then for a tuner?

If you decide to get a tune all the devices are pretty much the same. Whatever you can get the best deal on. The tune isn't just about HP gains it also makes your shifts 10x more efficient (if you drive an auto), helps MPG, yes it does give you HP and TQ, and depending on what custom tune you get it can help you on the low end with the torque tune or all around with race and performance.

Ya I do drive an automatic I am sad to say. MPG on it does suck for right now so I would like to see an improvement for that. KS gave me a list of mods that will increase my MPG so I am working on those first. Like I said earlier maybe I will wait on the tuner until after I switch my cams and heads.
