Default 2001 Mustang Convertible Vinyl

I have a convertible top mustang all black, and I just got my windows tinted limo all around so its very dark (and yes I know illegal). Anyways, ever since I got my tint job the convertible top shows to be very faded and almost doesnt look black anymore. Does anybody have an idea of where to get the vinyl for that and how much that would cost? Also, how hard would that be to install?

you might try a cleaner or fabric refresher before you replace the top. a product like armoral that has no alchohol in it can give the top a new life and protect it from fading as quick.

Done it already. The top is 6 years old without a garage so I don't think I can bring it back to life thats why I decided to just go with a new one to give my car the all black look. If I get a new top I will keep it under the car cover of course.

Default vinyl conv. top

My daughter just got an est. for a new vinyl top for her car because of damage from hailstorm.
her estimate was 675.00 for the top alone and 400.00 for installation. the hail went right through the top in several places and broke out the back window. hope this helps you. her car is a chevy but I forgive her for that.

Wow thats expensive..is that just for the Vinyl top or is that motor or bars or anything else? My back window is in tact of course so maybe that would save some money.

Don't get a vinyl top, they're horrible. stick with canvas - just get it re-dyed at an upholstery shop.

Is canvas what comes stock on them? Sounds like a great idea I didn't even think about that.

yeah, vinyl gets hard and cracks, and then it looks like your car has leprosy.

Haha point taken. I just want the top to be black like the rest of the car. I will look into dying it thanks for the idea!

Default expensive vinyl

I thought that was a little high myself but that is what it was. that was for the top only, no motor or bars.

You can do it yourself, if you know how to tape & paper. but most of the dyes they sell at parts stores turn to purple.
