Tomorrow, I am going to install the CAI I bought today and I heard that the intake has a silencer on it..I plan to take it off but I want to make sure that all it does is silence the sound and it won't hurt anything to take it off. Is it a noticeable difference in sound if I remove it and how do I remove it?

Oh yeah the silencer is a piece of rubber on the stock air filter housing. It snakes down into the passenger fender. Just take this off as it is restrictive. I just bought a K&N and saved money on a CAI and I noticed quite an improvement when I removed the silencer.

It is fine. It won't fit on your CAI anyway.......

So your saying you saved money cuz you didn't have to buy a CAI instead you just removed the silencer?

yea u remove the silencer, as it wont work with the new CIA anyways, and i also purchased the K&N Air charger series, much better sound and performance.

Yes the CAI is better than stock due to its design. My point was that removing the silencer on the stock design is worth doing. If you are replacing it w/ CAI the silencer will not even be used.

I will upgrade to the CAI soon as its better than stock but for those who still have a stock system removing the silencer is FREE!!! and does improve sound and it may have just been the K&N but I did feel a big difference.

Ya you will notice a bit of sound difference, of course not performance difference.
