Sounds like a lousy repaint. There's no way to fix it, the only thing to do is to have it stripped bare and start over.

this is a perfect opportunity to get a BRAND NEW hooooood *applause in the background with "price is right" music* Thats right schwaebz...you now have a reason to get a new hood that can be functional and look better toooooo!!!!! *more applause* By the time you get the hood stripped and painted, you could be telling yourself....this is a pain and that I should have just bought a new hood and got that painted, plus I would lose some weight and get a better looking hoooood!!!! *even more applause*

hahah I'm really not on crack....I swear

I have no idea. I like the stalker hoods from cervinis. A little pricey though. or you could get an OEM style for pretty cheap. Ebay is a good place

ahhh, not so fast.... see my story below.

this is an interesting post since i just picked my newly painted GT hood today. my oringinal 2003 v6 hood had rock chips that pretty much started to spread all over the hood. the paint was peeling and bubbling all around the chips.

since i just got the car, i didn't want to paint it but, seems over the last 2 months the areas have been peeling more and more, one spot was about the size of my hand.

i checked the warranty and there was a claim process that ford talks about in the last pages. so i figured, what the heck? i'll go to my local dealer, what can i lose? told the body shop manager my issues and he went ahead and approved a strip and re-paint of my original hood for the total price of $0......yes, he was going to do it under warranty since there was a rash of black mustangs that were having a similar problem, mine is deep blue.

anyway, i wanted to change the hood eventually to a gt hood and scoop. well, just so happens that i bought the hood and found a cheap scoop from craigslist. yes, you know what i am going to say. i figured why not, might as well go ahead and ask the ford guy to paint my new hood....it's less work, no stripping needed here. well, you guessed it, he said okay!!! damn, got the new hood painted with lifetime warranty for $0.

and whats your point? i didn't have warranty either, it's a 2003, and i just bought the car 2 months ago. look into it, it can't hurt. paint should last longer than 8 years.

way i was looking at it. which is what i told them. i shouldn't need a new paint job just because i was getting rock chips. the paint just kept on peeling. i told them that and argued that before i knew it, i'd have to paint the whole hood, just becuase of a tiny rock. i promise you, the peeling was getting bigger and bigger. it started out the size of a rock and right before they agreed to fix it, it was the size of my hand with no end in sight.
