Default Fuel economy with new CAI? 2005 Mustang V6

Hi, I'm new to the forum- just bought a 2005 V6 vert. It seems like the most common recommendation here for a quick way to increase performance is to change the CAI. How does this affect fuel economy?
I'd love to give the car a little more oomph but I drive 30 miles to work each day on the highway so I don't want my mpg to go in the crapper either. Thanks!

CAI and a tune will theoretically increase your mileage...as long as you can keep your foot out of it.

When you first get it you always want to test out the new power increase.

if you decide to get one, make sure they get you differet octane tunes. Of course the 93 oct. tune will gain more HP, but which has better fuel economy is something you'll have to figure out. Most places offer an 87, 89 & 93 octane tunes. If you can't get 93 octane gas in your area, most will also have a 91 tune available.

My personal experience is that, completely stock, I got around 20mpg mixed city and highway driving. When I installed the CAI with the 87 octane tune, it stayed there, and maybe suffered a bit. When I installed the 93 octane tune, it actually increased by 2mpg, about enough to offset the cost of the more expensive gas!

I think I'm up about 1.5 mpg over stock, with the 93 octane tune.

so to understand you I have to get a tuner such as an SCT tuner or somethin like that and have it tuned to that kind of gas in order to use it?
