Question New Guy, Old Question Im Sure

What's up everyone...I'm Mike....this is my first time on here....and i just thought it was time to join a forum and ask the people that love mustangs as much as i do...

First off, big lover the GT, but wound up with a 2003 Black V6 last year, mainly due to finances and i didnt' want to kill myself with higher payments after just relocating. So, I have been focusing on the styling mods as I'm not big into the performance upgrades, though i plan on an intake and a new exhaust eventually. For now though, i'm just enjoying the car.

My main focus has been acquiring a GT hood scoop for my car. They can be expensive so i was tracking one down to sand and repaint it if need be. However, i came across a few sites that mentioned the scoops would not fit on 2003 V6's...and then more specifically the reverse hoods, which I have. Basically the grill part is at the bottom instead of the top. Not that no one knows that, i'm not just not a big tech person, so i just wanted to specify for the question's sake.

So, is it possible to put a scoop on? If so, any advice on the best place to get one? I'm sure Ford charges like a mother..I see a lot of scoops on v6s but i've also never seen another mustang with this type of hood. I live in Florida and stangs are everywhere.

Anyways, sorry to ramble on, but yeah any input would be great. Thanks.

'99-'04 scoops will fit a v6. If i'm not mistaken, the V6 hood is the standard GT hood as well, and the scoop is an add on. Anyways, I don't think you can put a scoop on the reverse hoods. (I believe those are the cobra hoods) I've seen entire hoods with scoops go for 150 or so though. Just keep an eye out and try local classfieds and such. Alot of people replace their hoods with aftermarkets and just want to get rid of theirs, or totalled GTs will often have cheap hoods. (assuming it survived). Just got to find the right deal.

I still don't think it'll fit the cobra hood. Well, it will, but it will be backwards, which would probably look a bit silly.

Default wow...

i appreciate the quick feedback.....that's pretty awesome...

yeah from what i've researched, it is a cobra hood they put on the v6s that year...though i have no idea why.....they also offered that "Pony Edition" which came with the scoop.....would have been great to wind up with one of those....

i don't know..i guess i'll look out for a hood......probably the best bet at this point.....

thanks for the help though.....
