A guy I do a lot of lawn work for owns a shop out in Auburn Hills that does alot of body work, paint, almost anything. He works with my girlfriend's dad. He talked to him and said he'd be willing to paint my hood, for next to nothing. I guess this guy "owes" my future father in law for a bunch of favors. Anyways, I had a hood decal on and I liked the look of it. But as for paint, I have to pick a color. I thought flat black, but he told me that flat black is hard to clean because you can't wax it? Anybody have any suggestions or ideas?

Don't have stripes on my GT, but love the look of the flat black stripe(s). If you can't wax 'em that'd be a PITA. Go gloss black in that case.

you can wax them, it's just not going to do you very good because it's FLAT black. I work on classic mustangs at my work and we there is flat black paint all over them (especially hood scoops), we just use turtle wax ice to clean up the flat black areas. You should be fine.
