The past week or so I've been taking care of some other issues I've been "discovering" with the car. A while back ago I started a thread about a grinding noise from the brakes. Well, while swapping back to the stock rims and tires for winter, we discovered the problem. The brake pads were coming out from the calipers. We fixed that.

Anyways, I got some time in the garage and decided it would be a good idea to clean out the intake and TB. I've heard mixed opinions on carb cleaner. How should I go about doing this? I've heard of many different ways. Is there anything I should stay away from?

Throttle body cleaner that is safe for coated TB's. It's available at Advance or other big box stores.

Alright, I'll check that out. There's a screen in the intake tube before the throttle body, how do I get to it?

You take off the intake tube all together. The throttle body is just before your upper intake where your throttle cable is. Do not spray into the screen area. That is where your mass air sensor is and will mess it up. Make sure you have your hand on the throttle cable racing the motor or it will stall. When it is clean, you will notice a whistling noise coming from the TB when you hit the gas.
