Any modification ideas for a 1995 Mustang convertible V6
I have a 95 mustang that I'm working on and I was just wondering what ideas any of you may have. So far I plan on an engine swap and a transmission rebuild (my clutch is already roasted so I need to take it apart anyways) and I was just hoping you guys might be able to enlighten me on some other things you've found usefull. I am in high school but I've been around cars my whole life and I spend much of my free time with this one so I'm not exactly taking a shot in the dark here. Oh and money is not a limitng factor so throw out whatever you can think of. Thanks!
What are you swapping in? There's always the classic gears, exhaust, and CAI route. Gears really wake the sixers up, that's my next project I'm saving up for..

I'd either do a 4.6 with the PI swap out of something one thats 98 or newer, or just the cobra 5.0 from a 95... I was just going to rebuild the 3.8 but figuerd if Im taking that one out I might as well put a bigger one in... the transmissions were the same for the V8 and V6 right? and if I were to supercharge the V8 I'd most likely want to make some mods to the rear end correct?

well its alot more complicatin than just the tranny fittin.. there is also the rear end, suspension, wiring, and alot more that you need to swap a v8 into your car.. just look into swappin a 99-00 v6 split port motor into it if anything.. gain a easy extra 40 horses or you could go look at ssm or delk and get a built v6 motor

What are you goals with this car? You're in highschool, I'm not sure if that's a factor, but what do you need out of this car?

Well if money is not a limiting factor than why dont you just go out and buy an 03-04 Cobra?
Terminators with simple bolt-ons can make over 400rwhp easy.

Because as soon as I graduate (May of '08 ) I plan on making some on the side cash with this car, gata love the people who have more money than brains there's really nothing that I need out of this car, its just about what I want, which is why I can do just about anything to it... and the reason I dont just buy another one is because its the whole nostalgia of taking something so stock and basic and turning it into an awesome creation.

How are you going to do that? deliver pizza?
Let me clear this up, if money really is a limiting factor than don't say it isn't. Obviously if money wasn't a limiting factor you wouldn't of bought one of the slowest mustangs produced in the last 15 years. Gotta love people who have neither brains nor money.
If you want to do a v8 swap then you might as well just buy a GT!? It really isn't any cheaper to swap in a v8 into a v6. You have to replace the the tranny, k-member, ecu, rear end, suspension, rewire the car, etc...
Now if you want to make the v6 make more power that is something practical that can be done.

If you're refering to betting on racing, I think you may want to stay with the V6. A win would be unexpected with one...I was curious on your needs with the car, because with alot more power, you may question the car's daily drivability. If all of your money is pooled into this swap, you probably won't have enough money to get another car to get from point A to point B each day.

That would be a colossal waste of money. to go to a 4.6L you'd need to swap your K-member in addition to your rear end, transmission, wiring, computer, brakes, suspension, etc.
And then you'd only have a GT which you could have bought for a lot less than the swap.
Either go full boat 4V, or a killer 5.0/5.7L, nothing else will be worth it.

I didnt buy the car it was given to me, if you really think I would actually go out of my way to buy a dark green 95 V6 Mustang convertible you're nuts... and I already have 2 other cars, a 69 Camaro RS and a 96 Grand cherokee, so no need for saving money to buy another... and that is why I started the thread, to get some opinions and ideas on what I could and should do... and just out of curiousity, why the hell would you have to replace the tranny, up untill 96, I think it is, they were all T5's and after that the T45's, no matter what size engine... and have you looked at a 3.8 and a 4.6 of the same year side by side, because if you have you would notice that the V6 is set up IDENTICAL to the V8, the V6 is just lacking a few of the parts, not to mention that the 3.8 is simply the 4.6 except its missing 2 cylinders, dont believe me go take a look at the numbers. And seriously, if I plan on racing this car, do you not think I would be replacing most of that regardless of whether I swap the engine or not? come on now

No, they're NOT identical, they didn't merge the trannies and brakes until 2001. the springs and suspension were NEVER the same as the 5.0L weighed 100+ lbs more, and the 4.6L is 300lbs more. The K-mambers are completely different starting in 1996.
the 3.8L is an OHV engine, the 4.6L is an OHC engine. How could they be the same?
The rear is STILL different the v6's receive the 7.5", the GT's get the 8.8", Why did you ask if you could tell the difference by looking at the sheetmetal??
