1998 V6 Mustang... Ideas on how to increase horsepower
Please help me in modding my 1998 3.8 v6 mustang. i have put dual flowmasters and a BBK cold air intake on it already but i really don't know what else i should do. i was looking on some websites and i found crank pulleys and throttle body spacers but i really don't know if doing these will increase horsepower. i've looked at nitrous and turbo. the turbo was kinda pricey and the nitrous is kinda illegal. my father says supercharging it will just end up blowing up the bottom end... so any advice please?

How much horsepower do you want to make and more importantly what is your budget?
There are several different ways you can make power/speed but depending on your goals and budget determines the best route.

No budget really, i would like to add at least 100HP
To get that much power you will almost have to go with a supercharger or a turbo. You can find kits for both Procharger and Vortech. I like the Procharger kit on the pre 99's myself with 9 psi boost. The kit should include along with the actual unit a tuner, injectors, spark plugs, and intercooler. That will run ya around $3500 and install and tune will be around ($1000). The other thing you must have is a good t-lok, detroit true-trac is what I have and it makes the rear end exceptionally stronger. That will be about $650 w/ install. There are a few things that are optional but would really extend the life and improve the ride of your car; sub-frame connectors ($100), strut tower brace ($120), GT rear sway bar ($60), T/A rear end girdle ($180), and a better clutch if you have a manual (price varies).
So if you do everthing the right way you are looking at around $5600 total.

Underdrive pullies are a cheap mod for the 94-98's. Under $100.00 delivered. Turbo and supercharging put more stress on your complete drivetrain. It can be done don't get me wrong, but putting forced induction is always a risk unless your motor is 100%.
how about a cobra blower conversion AND a 4.2 conversion???

Depends on the SC and depends on how many miles you have on the engine.

on a 98 he can pick up 100 hp with heads, cam and intake porting. but if his bottom end is shot, he'd be better off with a rebuild/4.2L swap.

you use the crank, pistons, and rods from a F-150 1999 -'04 and balance the engine internally if it isn't already. a set of split-port heads would make the most power.
or just get a low milage 4.2 from a truck and change intakes
my next sixer will be based on a super-coupe six with a 4.2 conversion with a front crank support to keep crank from breaking
