Really need your opinion on this matter. I bought this performance chip from Surge Engineering. Did not do a whole lot of research on it. Has anybody heard anything about this chip and do you think it is a good idea in installing it? I own a 2007 V6 mustang. Here is the website http://www.yourhotcar.com.
A CAI and programmer are the way to go on your model year cars. VMP tuning sells the kit with both. For not much more and it is programmable for future mods like gears, etc......
shinerstang, I don't know to much about mods. You mentioned about a CAI and programmer. What is a CAI? Also, do you know the website for VMP. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Last thing so, you are saying do not install the surge performance chip?
shinerstang, sorry I just had a brain fart. As soon as I sent the reply.I glanced at CAI and realized it is Cold Air Intake. LOL. Anyways, I have one installed already and dual exhaust, H pipe( super 40 series from Flowmasters). So, I takeot that the next step would be a programmer.
That is correct. The 05+'s require a programmer with a CAI intake installation. I'm surprised you haven't been throwing codes or leaning out your motor, which is worse........
No. I haven't experienced any of those problems you mentioned. I am taking your advice on the VMP tuning. I decided to go with the sct x-cal 2 with 3 tunes. 1st tune is of course increased horsepower and torque. What are your other recommendations on the other 2. Also, kind of worried about what you said about leaning out the motor. Once installing this tune that should take care any problems with the code thing and other issue. Correct? One more thing, the tuner is about $399.00. It's going to take about another two weeks before I can get it.is their anything that is cheaper that I can buy for the meantime so I won't have those problems you are talking about?
Not really, the other 2 would be your stock tune, and I had always used a 91 tune in case I was travelling and didn't have access to 93 octane fuel, so I could mix what I had left in the tank......
