Got A 1995 Mustang V6 Coupe This weekend Now making a game plan
So I picked up a worn 95 coupe at an auction for 800 bucks.
The engine is idling around 500rpm and kicks on the check engine light.
It has a auto tranny that is well worn.
The interior is black and sadle and needs carpet and seat covers and the trim around the door handles.
The airbags had deployed at one time. So the steering wheel has seen better days as well as the passenger side dash where the air bag is.
It has had front end damage. I can see the radiator support and a bit of the right front engine comp has been "fixed". There are waves and bends in the metal so I plan to take off the fenders and bumper cover to check it out. BTW the body in front looks good except the panels don't quite line up. So once the underlying parts are straightend or replaced I'll put the fenders and soforth back on straight.
Also has a few good dents in the doors.
It was resprayed(probably after the front end damage). Was red, now green. Realy like the green, but it's chiping.
Wow, that sounds like a terrible car! But from 30 feet away it looks pretty decent.
1. Figure out the scanner I got last night and figure out the engine problem.
2. Decide wether to rebuild the engine.
(I would port the head, intake, add cam, chip exhuast)
3. Swap the auto for the t-5 I picked up yesterday. (still got to get all the parts)
4. fix the front damange and line up body panels.
5. Fix dents and Paint car.
6. New carpet. New seat covers. Dye and paint interior Black and Charcoal
7. tint widows
8. other details such as stereo which i have ready to go in.
There are a lot of details I haven't listed, but I am going with a BULLIT THEME. Green paint, etc.
Any suggestions?
BTW I am staying on a budget, so I am doing all work myself. I have a lot of parts already so that helps.

Get it checked at a frame shop!

I dont know man, sounds like it's lot more than it's worth, you should have probably just bought something a little bit in better shape at a higher price.

Reason: cuz
What do plan on budgeting for this project? Sounds like a cool idea to me considering that if you would of bought a decent 2001+ v6 you probably would of at least paid $9000, with the extra $8200 you could really wake up the car.
What is the mileage? And what code is it throwing?

I'll have a shop look at it. Though I have crawled under it and will begin pulling of fenders soon. Doesn't look like much more than radiator support got it. The engine compartment seems to still be square, measuring from corner to corner.
Well, I didn't have time last night to realy check out and figure out all the codes and investigate them, but I did plug it in and it came up with a misfire recorded on cylinder #2 and also low voltage from mass or volume air. So I'm going to change the plugs and wires first and go from there.
I realy don't think it's that bad. Plus, I'm pulling apart the suspension and checking it out and replacing the bushings and ball joints etc anyways so that will all be fresh.
I bought this knowing there were problems, and that it would be work. But that's how I want it. I picked out the color today that I will paint it. Ford woodland green.
I'll keep you all posted as I get things done/get started on a project.
Good luck with your new car! With a little TLC you will get everything back and running like normal in no time. Just be patient and enjoy being a part of the mustang family. Enjoy!

It sounds like a good project car...... You'll appreciate it more when it is complete. I applaud people who take Mustangs destined for the scrap yard and bring them back to life.
