Give it a race, but be smart about it.
Lighten up the car. You won't need the spare and jack, or any of that other junk you have in the trunk, so leave that stuff at home. Run the minimum fuel the track allows (some tracks don't enforce this rule). Don't carry a friend on the run either.
Make sure the car is tuned and ready. Practice power shifting (if its a manual) or consider a tuner to firm up the shift points if its an aod.
Practice driving and staging the car properly. Do some homework - there are web sites that have all this detailed out.
If you have any extra money, examine your rear tires. Are they about worn out? Drag radials will make a big difference come traction time.
You say you've done some mods. Good. If you still have the stock air cleaner in there, replace it with a K&N and tear off the snorkel.
Make nice with the Saturn owner. Try to keep it friendly. Racing doesn't HAVE to be a war.
But if he insists on trash, STILL keep it cool. Just focus on what you are doing, and let him get all shook and excited.
Ice will always wins twice.
