Update on all the threads I started about a month ago..
Well, I haven't been on here much lately, I've been keeping busy. Here's an update on my car issues lately. The white smoke issue I had earlier went away the next day, It smokes a little every now and again, however, but not as bad. (I never figured out how to get the stupid video off my camera.)
My seatbelt still doesn't retract, and I can't seem to find a replacement part online, and if it resorts to having to go to the dealer, I'll live with a bad seatbelt.
My gas economy has stayed the same, or gone down slightly. I calculated it for the first time in about a month today. 15.1. I was purposly conservative with the gas pedal this week too, in order to get the best possible milage.
The MAF hasn't been touched, (or cleaned, for that matter) yet. Neither has the throttle body. (been meaning to clean it). I've thrown in "cleaners" into my tank. Injector cleaner, etc. I'm curious if that's anything more than water mixed with oil...The fuel filter has yet to be changed, I'm a bit skeptical about doing it myself.
Cosmetically..My third brake light has seen better days, and I can't seem to find a OEM replacement online. I just want what I have now, just new. All I can find is L.E.D. this, or lights that spell my name when I hit the brakes..whatever..etc.
Okay, after this brief put down of my car..I still love it. But with love, comes stress and "needs".

your car could be smoking if it's running too rich.. my car did that before I got tuned, it would be blowing out unused gasoline..
use seafoam, it'll clean you're cars internals right up.

hey, the fuel filter is an easy change. just shut off the fuel pump in the trunk and the fuel filer is right above the rear axel. fuel system cleaner can work, if you get the correct kind. I can get some from the dealer were i work it only will cost me about 5 bucks, best stuff ive ever used, it is from BK and they use it in every vehicle. Now for the seat-belt issue, u just got to take the plastic off that covers it, and see what is going wrong. I dont think that i can help you with the third brake light, but a suggestion to u would look on craigslist.org , they got everything. Stanger 98 has it right with the smoke, but you should clean/ replace your air filter, and if u want the K&N version of the stock filter i have one like new for sale(send PM) ohh and by the way bad gas mileage is from a lead foot lol!

I've been told that the fuel filter can be a PITA with making a mess, and there's certain tools or something that is needed to make it easier. I've been keeping my eye on craigslist, but I've never seen the brake light there. The air filter is clean, I've already got a K&N in there. My foot isn't that heavy, actually. Like I said, I was extremely conservative on the gas this week, I hardly got on it at all.

fuel filter change is easy if you know what you're doing. First off, turn the fuel cutoff switch on, turn the car on, run it until it dies so there's minimal fuel in the line. wait a little while for the fuel to depressurize if there is fuel in the line. take a drain pain under the car with you, undo the fuel filter, there will be fuel from the filter and a little from the lines in there but nothing to major though. Just replace it with a new one and you should be good to go
thats because their was so much snow and ice lol , ha thats why u were so conservative lol
That's a whole other rant..
Last night's little snow/sleet storm.. I went out to get something to eat, and there was a dusting of snow on the ground. Safe enough. Wrong. I couldn't tap the gas without my tire(s) spinning. My brakes refused to work coming up on stop signs in the neighbor hood. (Thankfully it was in the neighborhood). I exceeded 20 M.P.H. once, and my back end was almost at the same angle as my front end. I went around the neighborhood and made a big circle home, about 3 or 4 miles, it took me 20 minutes..Mind you, I have weight in the trunk too.

There wasn't much traffic out, I had to go down one main road. (When I still had intentions of going out to eat) The car behind me probably thought I was crazy. The poor lady in her Grand Caravan had to come to a stop when I turned right onto the street, because it seriously took me about 45 seconds to get any sort of traction. It got annoying after 5 minutes. At one point, I tapped the gas and didn't feel/hear any spin, so I gradually pressed down on the gas. My engine kept revving, but I wasn't going anywhere for a minute. Meanwhile, SUV's are passing me like I lost a wheel or something..

Do you have an auto?
you need a Limited slip.
I get around fine in snow and ice - but I'm used to it.

Yeah, it's an auto. It was pretty icy, and I wasn't the only one having issues driving. But still.
A quick question, couldn't I just take out the fuse to the fuel pump?

When you're trying to move forward, ramp up the throttle slowly, you want to build on the traction you have instead of trying to burn through to pavement.
If you've got snow tires, put 'em on. You can get them pretty cheap mounted on steel wheels at tirerack.
I think you can take out the fuse

I would think that it would be a little bit easier just to go to the trunk and press the cutoff button....rather than taking out a fuse... but thats just me.
