Default What is an x-pipe and an h-pipe?

I've heard of both but am not quite sure what exactly they are or do? could anyone help me out?

If you look at the mid pipes, they'll have either an X or H shape. But the X has a larger merge area for the exhaust pulses, resulting in theory a higher power output. The H is simply a crossover pipe between the two. The X pipe has a higher pitch sound, similiar to a NASCAR vehicle and the H has more growl and musclecar sound.

And if you wanted to go OFF ROAD...

The catylic converters are taken out, emission laws out there?

BUT!!! There are high-flow cats out there.

I'm going with an off road h pipe from MAC, about 2.5" diameter.

I didn't know the X-Pipe was much more of a higher output.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the other reason for the H pipe is the firing order of GT's. 2 Cylinders fire off almost at the same time on the same side. I think the 1st and 4th, and 6th and 8th? Without a midpipe, the exhaust would only come out of one pipe, the h pipe equalizes it, crossing the exhaust flow to both sides, making it sound smoother.
