Hey all trying to diagnose a 1998 mustang and I keep hearing this whining noise in the engine bay before I try to crank it, at first I thought it was the fuel pump but its coming from the front and not the rear. any ideas what could be causing that?
Well it whines then stops, kinda like the fuel pump but I'm certain it wasnt the fuel pump because I just replaced it, it was completely dead. I just put the key in the ignition and I'll hear a whine noise from the engine bay that lasts like 4 seconds then goes away. This is all without running the engine BTW.
If the AC is on then the fan will run. I can't think of anything else that would be running with the key on and the engine not running.
