Talking Installing MAC Catbacks

They were delivered on monday, went to the junkyard to get some spare brackets today and hopefully i'll be installing them sometime this weekend. I'll post pics of the install once it's done.

Angry

Argh, nothing ever goes as planned. So I had everything layed out ready to go at my first true life mod to my car. I got as far as the y-pipe before giving it up.

The bolts were so badly rusted on that a ton Liquid wrench and over two hours of muscle couldn't get the damm things to budge. I'm so pissed, if I could've gotten the dammed bolts off the rest would've been a breeze. I think I need to have the current y-pipe cut off and have a new end put onto it. I'm just pissed now because i'm going to need to pay someone to do it for me

Thats a nice set-up but personally I would've opted for the true dual setup. Its really not that much more expensive and it sounds better but to each his own and if it sounds good let me know and i might consider it.

I'm actually not doing that anymore. A local shop (Race Related) is going to do a Roush-style side exhaust for me for $300 installed. I just gotta save my money!!

They're going to be installed Friday at 8:00 AM, i'll try to get some sounds afterwards. On the down side of all of this I'm going to be short money for the labor cost and that was the money I was planning to use for my 3.73 gears I can't wait to hear what my new exhaust sounds like though my current one is something not of this planet.

Thanks a lot! they've actually got a 98 system! If you had to say Pony, what does your car sound like is it just a beefy v6 or does it have the gt/cobra sound?

Beefy V6? I think not, my car sounds like a Bast*rd modded V8, the rumble will definatly turn heads, the Mac Mufflers make an awesome sound. I'm at my cousin's house now and as bad luck would have it his laptop lacks an onboard microphone I'm still trying to get a sound byte I really want everyone to hear it! I'll keep trying. Don't forget to get some GT hangers (for tailpipe and muffler, they were 10$ a peice from the dealership)
Good luck

How many hangars did you need? I'm seeing that the pipe will be 285 plus S&H. So I'm trying to estimate how much this will cost me total. I won't need to worry about the labor because me and a buddy of mine can do the work.

You'll need 2 hangers, one for the muffler and one for the tailpipe (right/passenger side) make sure you order off a 98 GT (in your case) You already have the correct hangers for the left side (where your current muffler and tailpipes are hanging) They cost me 10.05 per hanger, 20.10 total. It's awesome you have someone to do the work for you, it only cost me 90 bucks or so, but free is better!! Now if only I could get a friend to install my gears

I have a sound clip of my exhaust. It turns heads everywhere! The clip doesn't do it justice at all

Click that, then click on the first picture that you see. Please tell me what you think!
