Question can't start 3.8 v6 dealing with camshaft sensor 54degrees

have a technical 3.8 v6 engine assembly question.Deals with the camshaft position sensor. I removed the housing that lies beneath the camshaft positioner to prime the motor with the oil pump.Thing is I cannot put the shaft in correctly so that the motor starts.I set the motor at top dead center the moved the balancer over to the 10 degree atc mark. Installed the shaft the goes all the way into the oil pump with the opening facing directly toward the radiator straight the internal circle that has a cut out inside that spins also faced directly toward the radiator.I then positioned the sensor 54 degrees off center and re assembled the sensor on top and it still does not start. It ran before after I primed the pump then broken in the motor in from there it just cranks and almost starts. Can anybody help me out.I'm here outside in the night trying to set up but the book claims to need a camshaft sensor tool that only a dealer would have.

Just turn the sensor around till it starts and then take it to the dealer for the tool. It should start in one of those positions.
