Default Rear caliper replacement - Please help

Hello everyone. I'm new in here but I have owned a '99 3.8 Mustang for over a year now and I love this car.
I now have a small problem with the rear brakes. I was trying to replave the rear pads but the piston caliper won't go back in. I tried pushing, turning, and even release the fluid valve but no luck.
I need to replace the caliper I think. So here are my questions:

(1) Would I need to replace both calipers even if the left one works? I know for sure that I will need to replave the right side but haven't tried the left one yet. I would rather save $80 if I can.
(2) I understand the caliper is somehow attached to the parking brake by a cable. Do you have any hint or suggestion I should follow? I've never seen a caliper like this before.

By the way, I also bought new pads and rotors for the rear. I already replaced the front rotors as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Peter

Don't push hard on the rear calipers to reseat them. They must be turned while pushed. I went to Auto Zone to rent the tool. Actually they rent for free you just pay for the tool but when you bring it back they refund you the full amount.

I went ahead and bought the tool set for pushing and turning the calipers since I plan to keep my car for a long time. ??? $40.00

I will look at my manual in a bit but off the top of my head I think you turn it clockwise while pushing it in. I have heard of guys using pliers to turn it while pushing but the tool is much easier.

yes if you try the old way you will break the caliper. The only way to do it is with the specialty caliper tool....

You can get on there with a pipe wrench or vise grips on the piston. It's old style, but it does work.....
