Default 2002 Mustang V6 Air Bag Light is on steady???

Hey everyone, trying to solve a few problems before we sell this car. One other item is the fact that the airbag light is on steady. I just called Ford, the parts guy said it probably is not the crash sensors up front, more likely a wiring problem or he said it could be in the seat belts???? Any input on this one????

I called several parts stores and talked to Ford this morning. Looks like my best option on this deal is to take it to Ford. Hard to work on this since you need a computer to check it out?????? Could be the Air Bag Control Module or I heard it could be in the seat belts and possibly something called a ??? clock spring in the steering wheel. ???? Maybe best to let Ford fix this one. I hate taking a car to get worked on. Seems like it never works out with out more than one trip and a bunch of $$$$$$

It's time to go to the dealer...... A solid light is not repairable without them.....

I am going to tell them I need a "real estimate" and updates before they spend my money.

I am going to drop it off and leave it, no paitence to wait!!!!

Can you believe that when I bought my 94 GT I took it to a Ford dealer on the way home (1700 mile trip) and I watched the guy changing the oil and he did not know there were two drain plugs on this oil pan. I had to tell him to drain the front also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know the automotive industry, everyones in a hurry!

Well, I had Ford fix it this morning. $95.00 but no hassle. At least the air bag light is OFF. I wish I would have had the computer to check it out but some things you just need to have a bit of help on.

What did they do? Module or reset the airbag system? Just curious......

He said he re-set the system after he put a new fuse in the #36 slot. I had checked the fuse and it looked god but I changed it anyway but it didn't help, so I took it to Ford??????????????? Anyway, no more air bag light on so it seems OK. I had another thread going on about the power steering pump and I ended up putting a new (free) power steering pump on and it works fine now. The first re-manufactured pump was bad but at least that's is done now also. Everything else is in good shape. I will be putting it in the paper and hope to sell it this weekend or soon.

Why not just keep it for your daughter?

It is a stick, but the 96 V6 she is driving is an automatic and I already put gears and a really nice exhaust on it. Plus the 96 V6 seems rare that it has gray leather in it and a powered drivers seat. I also like her and I having the same body styles. Since I also have a 94 GT as my hobby car.
