1994 Mustang engine "limiting" when i punch it. PLEASE HELP
Well yesterday morning i got in my car an bgan to backup, the car stalled like it just shutoff, it didn't bog down. i figured w/e it's 14y.o. and i've had it 4 months and it was the first hickup, i restarted and went on my way to school. well anyway to make the story short, after school it did it 3 more times, not a stall, thre was just nothing there when i put the pettle down, i would pump it 2-3 times and it would suddenly be there again??? one happened from a cold start, another pulling out of DQ and punching it to beat traffic, and the other when i was on a streight away and was rolling, i did notice at DQ that it was pinned at 2000RPM going between 15 and 20.
im thinking it is something with the electrical and mor specifically the limiter.
anybody experience this??? or know what it is please help

is that fuel injected? carburated engines might behave like that if the accelerator pump is going bad.
clogged fuel filter.
throttle linkage or intake butterfly not opening , sticking.
low fuel pressure.
dirty clogged injectors.
fuel injection malfuntion or ecs. check for codes
sounds like its intermittant, someone else will likely have more.
ok so after practice i went to pull the car around front, i was in the staff parking section, and i turned it on and opened the hood, i opened the throttle a couple times, nothing different really, so i got in and moved it around front and it stahls, the only thing i could thing of was mabe the throttle body sensor, so i decided to unhood the battery to mabe restart the computer. i put it back on a few minutes later and it started, so i dropped the hood and it stahled (the cable was loose i guess ) so i had my dad come up and he cleaned the terminal off real good with his terminal tool. then tightened it down. the car would not start. its rolling over and the starter sounds the same. he checked the oil and said that was really low. so we got a couple quarts of oil. we put one in and let it sit. we tried starting it and nothing, so i went into school and hopped on a computer and got drewp's response and we talked about it and what else could be wrong ( my dad was a mechanic for 20 some years) then he said he had to get home (he plows for the state and can get called in at 11:00, it was around 7:00 and snowing) i told him i was going to try it again, it started, i knew whatever i was i had to keep on the gas (above 1,250rpm) i got it home and right in front of the house it shut off, i coasted into the driveway and there it sits.
any idea's?????

something like this can drive you to drink, i think being intermittant its likely a electronic or electrical device, loose wire etc. hc had a good question on if the check engine lite came on, im talking on while running, should be choked with fault codes if you can get it to someplace with a code reader. whatever it may turn out to be, you need to read the codes to narrow it down.
Try turning her on with the fuel pump located in the trunk of your car.
Could be your MAF or MAS (Mass Air Flow Sensor). If it's not sensing the right amount of air traveling into your intake for that air/fuel mixture, then your car will not go.
Like what Tom said.

Wait what fuel pump in the trunk of the car? im slightly confused.

When your car fails to start, there's a "backup" plan.
Located in the left side your trunk behind the tailight is a fuel pump.
You're able to start the car from that fuel pump when you can't start your vehicle.
Give that a try.
You could also clean your MAF with a special cleaner. I bought mine from Kragen's, CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner. It'll give your sensor a better response of the amount of air you intake for that air/fuel combustion. Brake parts cleaner, carbeurator cleaner, though a lot of the guys here suggests to use, I'm not familiar with that route.
Your fuel injectors could be dirty too. You can pour fuel injector cleaner into your tank, so that way you can get rid of those sitcky/clogged injectors. Or you can have a shop do 'em for you for a thorough cleansing. Which in your situation, having a shop do it for you is better.
Read your owner's manual if you can't find the fuel pump.
