Default 2004 V6 Rear End Question

Is the rear end on a V6 the same as the GT/Mach 1's of the same year? I plan on buying a V6 and doing an engine conversion and want to know if it will be easy (and cheap) or costly and if it were better to just buy a GT.

ild rather have a V6 Chassis becuase it will be TONS cheaper insurance and cost wise when i buy the car.

yes and no, V6 cars got a 7.5 rear and GT's, Mach 1's and Cobra's(wth solid axle) got 8.8 rear...they share the same mounting points, 28 spln axles, axle bearings and seals and some small parts in the diff but thats it....

ok, with that in mind, do u think it will be cheaper to buy a V6 and get an aftermarket rear end or just get a GT and beef it up?
are there any other componants that need to be modified to be able to handle a 500hp engine?

You can swap an 8.8" rear end on your V6, it'll handle 500hp+. Also, with a strong LSD (Limited Slip Differential) you're sure to increase the strenght on your rear end axle.

So far in my V6 enthusiast-ing, I've noticed that there's not a lot of support for the V6. You'll mostly find many performance upgrades for the GTs, Mach1s, and the Cobras...

Though insurance will be cheap for us, when it comes to modifications...you'll really have to dig deeper than everyone else.

Just my two cents.
