 this may be a far stretch
my wifes grand am referes to turning on the ac as a request to the computer. it turns on the engine cooling fan first and checks to see if thats working and then will turn on the ac clutch. not sure if ford used the same setup on their cars since i've had no issues with mine. maybe a place to start looking if the fuse is good. good luck.
