How many miles on the car? Assuming its an automatic overdrive tranny right now, if its a 5 speed, let us know...

There are a long list of potential causes for this in an automatic. I'd recommend taking it to Aamco or good local tranny shop to have it checked out. They should look over the car for free. The problem could be minor or major.

I've tried pinpointing automatic tranny problems via the internet before, and its really tough.

Default tranny - mike

the car has 87 000 km, and your right its automatic overdrive.
it hasnt had much wear so im wondering wut it could be.. could it be because it sat for 7 months? without being run.

i shall take it to get looked at. thanks mike

Sitting (particularly in really cold weather) can be bad for a car. Automatic transmissions can be sensitive beasts - its possible it just needs a service, a good cleaning, and a new filter and fluid.

The mileage is too low for it to normally need a lot of work, but it might still have a problem. There is a switch in the AOD that can fail (or gum up) that can cause problems, too, though it is relatively easy to diagnose and fix.

I'd recommend the expert advice regardless. As I said, these things can be tough to diagnose. The low mileage is in your favor, frankly, so I'm hoping its something minor.
