Default 1998 mustang not starting Need Help.

my 1998 mustang will not even start up. when i turn the key you hear the fuel pump sound and nothing else happens. i hooked up cables and still no crank. today i tried touching the 2 screws on the starter and starter turned but didnt fire up or even attempt, starter just spun, what could be the problem, please help me out.

check the starter, the wires to everything and the battery. idk what else.

i think it might be the starter, but the crazy thing is that its not even cranking when i turn the key, could it be the solenoid on the starter? im clueless

I would start checking the obvious. Make sure you have fuel rail pressure and spark.

how do i check the fuel rail pressure? sorry never checked

if the starter motor turns but the engine wont crank, it's definitely a broken gear, either the flywheel or the starter pinion gear but the starter is most probable.

Maybe I missed something here. Is the starter cranking the engine over at all?
