Default 1995 v6 Mustang stumbles bad off idle

I have a 1995 v6 mustang that stumbles really bad and backfires through the intake when you give it gas from idle. After you double/triple clutch the car to get it rolling it appears to run OK although I think that it may have lost a little power. The "Check Engine" light is not on. I have checked the fuel pressure and everything appears to be OK. I checked the fuel injectors and a couple appeared to be damaged so I replaced all of them. I have tested all of the misc. sensors including the Throttle Position Sensor according to the directions in the Hayes Manual and they all tested OK.

Does anyone know of a way to check the timing with a timing light to see if it has jumped timing???

Any other suggestions on what could be wrong???

Thanks,

my first guess is timing. I haven't done it on my mustang, but when I timed my SB chev it was simple. Look in haynes, it should have instructions, but basically hook the light's power leads to the battery and clamp onto the 1st cyl. spark wire with the 3rd lead (not a gator clip). look at you're crank/ dampener with the light, numbers and an indicator should show up (it may be hard to see). Otherwise, check for vacuum leaks including you're intake gasket at the rear of the engine near the firewall.

I don't see any markings on the dampener. There is nothing in the Hayes Manual except for checking the Backlash of the valve. It has actually been spitting back through the intake every now and then for a long time (over a year). Every now and then when you gave it some gas you could hear a faint backfire. Someone told me that since it is ODB I, all you can do is start replacing sensors one by one (that could get real expensive). I am going to run a compression check this weekend and make sure that there is nothing seriously wrong.
If anyone comes up with any ideas I will be checking back later.
Thanks,

Whoah, that kinda sounds like you toasted a valve, or you're crank position sensor ain't quite what it used to be. Could be a cam sensor too... but I'm not positive there is one, I am pretty sure there is a crank sensor tho. How'd the compression test go??
