Default Battery, Alternator or something else...

The other day on the instrument cluster on my car the battery voltage meter was reading high voltage, so i poped the hood and found that on the wiring from the alternator to the fuse box was burnt, the insulation was melted together and copper wire was showing so i took that out, bought some butt connectors and did a temp fix on it, i also took the the alternator to auto zone to have it tested because since the battery was reading high voltage, the voltage regulator on the alternator went out so yes of course the alternator failed i got a new one and put it in along with the temp wiring i had done, started the car and everything was normal, it was normal for 2 days, but this morning i started it up and the battery voltage was reading lower than normal, between the L and normal range, i poped the hood and found that one of the wire had come loose, fixed it, put it back in, started the car and it still was reading the same thing. Could the battery be going bad due to that high voltage thing that was going on? any ideas?

check the alternator that they gave you. it may be new but sometimes, new still fails. the volt meter measures the electric current that goes to your battery and not how much charge your battery has. your battery should be ok
