Default 1995 engine lock up

I have a 3.8L V6 that had a water pump go out then locked up after changing water pump. engine still turms over but make alot of metal on metal sounds. My questions are? Where can I get a good rebuild kit, is it worth it? what year models can I get a replacement from? just 94 and 95 or will a 97 work? Thanks a bunch folks.

Rob,
The metal on metal noises is bad. Are you hearing this when you turn the engine over by hand? Remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over manually. It should turn easily. If it does not, you may have major piston/cylinder damage caused by poor cooling when the water pump went out.

Now might be a fun time to supersize to a V8. Building a budget V8 can be fun, very satifying, and not too expensive. Check this sites classifieds for some V8 starter motors. The old 302 will fit your '95.

Thanks for the info. The metal noise is when cranking with starter, I will try it with out plug and by hand or with a wrench slowly. I have a 16 year old driving this Stang so I would like to keep it a Six cyl for safety and fuel!
