How can I get the best gas mileage out of 2001 Mustang V6
I am planning on going on a road trip with a few of my buddies and it looks like we are going to take my v6 mustang. It is a 2001 v6. I have heard of people getting in the high 20's with their v6's. I would like to get the best mileage possible so we don't have to pay to much for gas and can have more spending money. Thanks for any help!!

CAI would help, and a tune. I think either diablo ir CTS has an economy tune for the v6. Problem with this is the CAI runs about $75 and the tuner is $400. Now the real question is.... is a $475 investment going to be offset by a 3mpg rise from 25mpg? Think about the length of you're trip, and see if this is really worth it. I went from Willington CT to Buffalo NY and back, with at best 22mpg because I have an exhaust leak, and it cost me about $300 in gas. It's still cheaper than a flight for two+ car rental!
Sorry I forgot to say I already have a CAI and a true dual exhaust. Is there a cheaper tuner or chip I could go with?

weight and road condition are big factors on fuel economy. keep your revs below 2000, anticipate braking, don't use a/c when possible and observe proper tire pressure
If its a 5 speed, you should have no problems knocking mid-high 20's on the freeway. I've posted on here before saying that i've managed to get 30-33 mpg with my 01 V6 5 speed. It has BBK CAI, true duals, lowering springs, and 17 inch GT wheels stock size tires. I've even knocked 31 with the A/C on.
I would say make sure all the fluids are changed when they need to be, keep it tuned up, and drive normal.

A/C makes a difference in mpg? I always use Max A/C and I always get the same exact mpg as without using it

yes it does, id say a load factor of about 2-5%. though difference is negligible, sometimes almost unnoticeable, it still adds up at the end of the day
It depends on where you live and how hot it is outside. If you turn the A/C on when its 80 degrees outside, the compressor doesn't have to cycle on as much to cool down the inside, however if you live in Phoenix like I do, where 100-110 degrees is the normal temp durring summer, then the A/C cycles way more often, thus reducing the mpg.
