Default Reading fault codes in 1997 V-6?

Hey, all.

I'm posting this on my gf's behalf. The "Check Engine" or "SES" light (I don't know which it says, since it's not my car) in her 1997 V-6 came on recently and then went back off. I don't know what caused it, but it got me thinking about the jumper wire trick that I'm able to do with the OBD port in my 1994 Blazer.

Shorting two of the pins together with a jumper wire and turning the key to the "on" position causes the light to flash whatever fault codes have been recorded. Is there a similar trick for 1997 V-6 Mustangs?

Also, the driver's side window will only go up or down in increments of about half an inch per push on the switch. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, was it the switch, the motor, or something else?

Thanks.

If the car is still running fine and the light turned back off I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it did pop back up you could take it to a dealer and have them run the code or tuners can run them.

You ca nalso go to Autozone or Advance for a free pull of the code.

Thanks for the responses. Those are good options.

So, does this mean that there's no jumper wire trick possible with this car?

That is correct. You cannot do that with OBD2's......
