Default noise problem on a 1998 Mustang

Just what it says. It seems like it is coming from the front wheel on the drivers side. Everytime I take the car out, it will start up after a while. It is sort of like a metallic groaning noise. Whats causing this?

May be a wheel bearing.Jack it up and check for play in the wheels.

^+1 See if the wheel does anything but spin, if it does then it is most likely a wheel bearing. Does it get louder the faster you go?

That advice is technically incorrect. No wheels should ever just spin freely. There should always be brake drag, at least there should be. Only way you can really check it without tearing the front assembly apart is driving it until the sound is at it's peak, park the car, jack it up and spin the wheels to see if you're getting the same noise.

I'd hate to start another thread on the noise, so I'll post my problem here.

I have a similar squeaking sound (not a high pitched worn out brake pad squeal), it's more like a lower pitched groaning squeal. It feels like it's coming from almost under the driver's seat, and it happens occasionally around the speeds of 5-10 mph. It gets loud when I pull up on the side of my driveway, where the ground is slightly curved and uneven and I'm going about 5 mph. I just had my car oiled and lubed, but it's still making the sound. Any ideas?

The only time I hear it is when I am leaving a stop sign or when a light goes green and I pull away.

Then i would suspect a brake that is holding a little.
