Thumbs up 97 v6 to v8 swap

I have been wanting to find out where I or can I get a kit to change out a v6 motor to a carb 302? motor mounts, headers, oil pan or anything else that comes along with that, and also what to do with all the wires that will be left over that wont be used..All I want to do is make a weekend play car out of it. The car was once wrecked but I fixed it back and even drove it for about 4 years and now it is not worth anything because the v6 motor is knocking now and that is why I want to make a toy out of it..any info would be great!

personally I would just build the v6 up, in the long run it's much cheaper and the results are more satisfying.

do a search on a v8 swap in this forum. It's not pretty, nor cheap, nor a fun job to do. It'd be easier to part out the v6 and just buy a complete running GT.

BTW, I hope you don't plan on getting that car to pass smog with a v8 motor. If you swap in a motor that's older than the car, it will not pass smog.

well the good thing around here in this part of TN is that we dont have smog test or any of the legal crap that most other states have and yes that would be hard to do and I have looked into building up the v6 but since the motor has went to knocking and im going to have to change it anyways I thought what the hell drop in a monster of a v8 and make it a sleeper. but thanks for the info

gotcha well, you don't have to swap the motor out because of a knock. Throw some built internals in there and you've got one helluva sleeper

exactly. anybody can build a fast v8 mustang, building a fast v6 is a lot more rewarding because we're such a small crowd
