Question Looking For More HP in my 3.8 Vs Mustang

Hey Guys,

I Drive a 1995 V6 mustang, and it looks good, and is fun to drive, but I am looking for a way(s) to draw a few more ponies from her. I am not looking for thousand dollar mods, rather I am looking for a few mods at a couple hundred bucks each (i.e. cold air intake). Any ideas out there?

Thanks in advance for your help.

P.S. if you could give me an approximate price that would be great as well.

I would start with:
  • Cold Air Intake
  • Underdrive Pulleys
  • Exhaust
All of those are under $200-300 each and can yield great performance. They will also improve fuel mileage as well (if car is driven normally).

I would suggest converting to a true dual exhaust. It will be the best value vs. performance exhaust upgrade.

You need 3 things to get the job done...

1. H pipe adapter - Pacesetter makes a nice V6 H pipe adapter kit for the V6.
2. Any GT model dual exhaust kit
3. Passenger side exhaust hangers (since your car is missing exhaust on that side)

You can get the whole job done for $300-500 depending on the cat-back exhaust you pick.

A cheaper alternative would be to install a bolt-on cat-back exhaust, which bolts to your stock Y-pipe. While not yielding as much performance, it will increase exhaust flow slightly.

Sincerely,

H-pipes do not add horsepower. Our engines are even firing and do not require such......

Gears and tuner kit. That will make your car more fun to drive and you'll like that giddy up down low

I have a 75 shot of nitrous on my car along with some suspension mods for better launches, 8.8 rear end with 31 spline axles, and stage 2 clutch. i've recently added a Windstar intake and long tube headers along with a bigger nitrous pill, so my numbers are even higher now because it took .3 seconds off my 1/4 mile times, so it is around 300 hp to the wheels. I still need to get it dynoed again for actual numbers. My car is lightened up as well. It weighed in at 2901# last week......

I will be racing at the NMRA's next weekend to give the V6 community some exposure. Matt will also be there with his beast......

I put a Ford Racing limited slip into my 99 V6. made a big difference. Both off the line traction, and corner exiting traction are improved greatly...

So much power is lost with the open differential.
