Default 1994 3.8 seems to have to much fuel to motor

I have a 1994 3.8. Runs for very short period of time. Seems to load up with fuel and dies. Just touch accelerator and dies. Trip inertia switch and somewhat idiles untill fuel runs dry. What should I look for. I've been told Fuel pressure regulator. Any other thoughts
Thank's

Look for a good mechanic that can properly troubleshoot your issue. Could be many things and I would be very surprised if it is the fuel pressure regulator since those usually don't fail.

well the fpr should actually stop the flow of fuel if it breaks so i haven't got a clue, maybe your injector pulse is not set right

No offense, but that is more than a wild guess. The ECU takes care of that.

One important question, does it run poorly all the time or just when it warms up?

The vehicle starts for only a moment. So it does not warm up or idle. smell gas, and just sounds like it loads up with fuel.
I have Haynes/Chilton manual and trying to find time to run a fuel pressure test. Also a Vacum test at the pressure regulator. I am a collision tech and not much mechanically inclined for underhood projects. This vehicle looks like it has been through a line of non-mechanic hands. Many test pricks in alot of wiring. When I purchased vehicle , was told it needed head gasket. Made sense, looked as though vehicle ran off road and took out radiator. Figured owner took rest of way home and vehicle overheated. So put in head gaskets and now thinking that not problem at all. Lesson learned.

to test the fpr take the vacuum hose off and see if fuel comes out of it if the diafram went bad it would cause it to load up fast...if thats not it clean the mass air flow meter and see if its even hooked up could also cause a ton of fuel problems

You can also check fuel rail pressure with a tester. It's easy to do. That will tell you more of what is going on......
