ok so i have been lookin at things to add to my 02' stang. one of the things i have considered is underdrive pulleys, i know where to get them and i know what they do and how they work, i just want to know if they do really do help or just dont do anything at all really. enlightenment please? anyone?
Underdrive pulleys are well worth the money and they add a noticeable amount of rear wheel horse power (12-15+ average). The main benefits include less drag on your engine, increased accessory life and improved gas mileage.

12-15+ on a V6? Really?

The HP they add is most noticeable in the higher rpm range, but it's not a huge chunk of power. To me their biggest benefit was the increased gas mileage.

They do not add hp. They free up hp that the engine accessories take up. They are oversized so that the accessories run slower than they do with the smaller stock pulleys. Most people say that the 24% and the 42% pulleys do the exact same thing, only the 42% pulleys may make the engine die since the battery is not getting as much charge as it should.
well i knew they didnt add power they only free up power already present. but the pulley kit from rpmoutlet.com Mustang 3.8L V6 Performance Parts FREE SHIPPING! even talks about voltage and gives the requirements and according to them and their dyno tests everything works just fine with the 42% its just a crank and waterpump pulley and a balancer. but you may be correct thats just what the site says

The engine not getting charged is a problem with cars that have bigger stereo systems in them. The 42% may make the alternator run slower and not charge as well. Some people have said that it has happened to them when they have the stock stereo too.
I know what the kit comes with. lol I was telling you of experiences that others have had. What are the Motoblue pulleys made out of? Some people will go with the BBK pulleys since BBK's are made out of aluminum rather than iron like other companies are made out of. Lighter weight. lol
yeah i used to have subs in my car but i sold my amp and now have my subs for sale sitting in my closet, so now i jsut have the factory stereo. and i dont know thats a good question i didnt think aobut that...

I would try to find steel pulleys, Steeda and ASP also make the pulleys. Alluminum pulleys may flex or bend, just something to think about, especially if its your only transportation.
