Default An experimental true dual exhaust idea.

Hey everyone, I thought maybe you could help me out in giving some suggestions as to what I should do in order to make my future exhaust set up sound good. I currently have a magnaflow dual exhaust glasspacks with reverse y-pipe. It sounds good right now but i am looking to increase the flow as best as possible and be unique. I am buying kooks long tube headers soon and i am planning on taking off the y-pipe and reverse y-pipe and having a shop custom make an exhaust that runs 2 pipes from the headers to the current magnaflow catback, that is, two pipes that don't connect with each other at any point. Now I know that in doing this it will make the exhaust extremely loud as my grandfather has this set up on a car of his, and i know that the glasspacks alone aren't going to muffle the noise much. So one question is what do you guys think would be a good muffler to fit in about mid-way through the exhaust system to lower the really loud noise this is going to be making.

Now i love a deep sounding exhaust and i hope to get this as low toned as possible but i am aware that its not a v8 but that is not what i'm going for, as i said i want this to be unique. But the lower and throatier the better of course

Also, if someone has done this before and you know it sounded absolutely awful please inform me because i would hate to waste all this money on something that is bound to fail, but i think this set up will sound pretty good.

All opinions are welcome here, i want to know what the people who are experts on mustangs think about what the outcome of this may be. If this was a v8 i would have done this project ages ago but with the v6 i'm afraid of what may come of the sound if i'm wrong.

from what I have heard the magnaflows sound best on a v6 setup. You really cant ever get the deep sounds of a v8 with a v6 but some options you have are magnaflows or borla and ive even heard good results on the pypes violater setup. but I would suggest sticking with the magnaflows. Ive done some research for my 2.3 liter svo and everyone said to go with the magnaflows for a dual exhaust. just my 2 cents

That is considered a true dual setup. Most people run that already. If you are taking out the cats, you will run into a noisy setup...... I have LT's on my '01 with dumps before my axles. The only time it sounds good is when I'm dumping nitrous into it, but I was going with performance over sound......

i am running this type of exhaust on my 95 3.8. this engine is an even firing engine which means that there really isnt a need for a crossover mid pipe. i am using flowmaster 40s and i really like the sound but i still also have my cats on it. kinda wonder what it would be like to cut them out. anyway you wont be dissapointed if you do what your talking about just as long as you konw that you will never reach the sound of a v8
