Okay, 2001 Mustang 3.8 V6, auto, 72,000 miles. CEL in Oct, P-1285 and P-0303. reset and all is well. CEL again and intermittent hesitation and occasional stall at various rpm and mph along with squealing noise that was unidentified. Dec 2, CEL and codes were P-0340, P-0300. Replaced coil pack to correct P-0300 and possibly P-0340. Cleared codes, drives fine for a day. Same issue as above along with CEL. Dec 4, P-0340. Replaced Camshaft Positioning Sensor to correct P-0340. Drives fine for a day, same issue as above but no CEL, what to do next, that light at least leads me into a direction. Please help.
The right direction is to find a mechanic that can properly troubleshoot the codes. Throwing parts at codes will work less than 1/2 the time and usally alot less.
I know what these particular codes relate to, and had advice from a mechanic friend. He also stated that it would be difficult to diagnose this type of problem accurately with no fault codes present.
p0340 malfunction in cam position sensor circuit
p0300 multiple random misfires
Also already replaced plugs, wires, egr positioning sensor previously as normal pm and cel for egr sensor

not everybody who is trying to fix their car is just "throwing parts" at it, why is it when people come looking for advice you tell them to take their car to a mechanic? do you really think thats the advice they want?
when's the last time you changed your fuel filter?
Fuel filter replaced recently with other maintenance items; plugs, wires, air filter, egr pos. sensor, battery, mmmm, yeah, that;s it and bytheway, THANKS for the last reply, this is where I would hope to find some help, called a few local mechanics and they wanted to know if I would bring my own condoms with the car!!! No wonder these type of forums are becoming so popular. Sorry, back to the issue. I have found a lot of statements reguarding alternators coinciding with the problems I have. Will a simple alternator check find the problem, I had it checked at the ZONE and they said it was okay. What next?

hahaha
anyway; so right now, the MIL is not on, but its intermittently stalling and hesitating...... possible vacuum leak somewhere, bad pcv valve also possible... take some intake cleaner and while the engine is running spray your intake tubing/connections/vacuum lines, if the engine revs up you have a leak; as for the pcv valve, its on your left bank right behind the oil cap, pull it out and shake it, if it rattles its good, if not, it needs to be replaced. and if autozone said your alternator is ok, i'd leave it be.
also, if you're near autozone again anytime soon, have them scan for DTC's again...
